Words of Condolences on the occasion of the Death of Dr. Kiyoshi Seko

After fighting various complications arising from the surgery, Dr. Kiyoshi Seko, IES faculty member, tragically passed away on Saturday, May 7. The funeral mass was held the day after at the parish of the city of Daito, Osaka.

According to the words of his wife Winnie Seko, Kiyoshi has been enjoying working with administration and students of DLMPES. He used to teach a course Introduction to Ecumenical Christian Ethics for a few years at the program. Despite his disease, which seriously injured his throat, Seko continued his work with the students.

Kiyoshi Seko, was born in Japan. He received his Bachelor degree at the International Christian University, Tokyo, Japan in 1997. Then Kiyoshi gained a Master of Arts in Theology at Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology, Berkeley, USA. His License and Doctor in Sacred Theology (summa cum laude) he completed at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas “Angelicum,” Rome, Italy in 2006.

Dr. Seko was a Publisher/Editor of the Asian Christian Review since 2007; and the Editorial Committee Member of the Japan Mission Journal since 2011.

Kiyoshi was a member of the American Academy of Religion, Japan Society of Christian Studies and Catholic Theological Society of Japan.

Ecumenism (especially Catholic-Protestant dialogue, teaching authority, Mariology), Inter-religious, inter-cultural dialogue (including non-Western approaches in theology), Relationship between contemporary Western philosophy and theology, Relationship between spirituality and theology were among his main academic interests.

Let our risen Lord Jesus Christ accept his faithful servant Kiyoshi in his Kingdom!
