In UCU prayed for the Christian unity

On Monday, January 22, Institute of Ecumenical Studies organized a traditional prayer for the unity of Christians and peace in Ukraine in the Сhapel of the Philosophical and Theological Faculty of the Ukrainian Catholic University.

The event took place within the framework of the World Week for the Christian Unity, held between 18-25 of January each year. The leading theme of the worldwide prayer initiative of 2018 is "Your right hand, O Lord, is majestic in power" (Exo 15:7).

Representatives of various Christian Traditions and communities of Lviv took part in the prayer meeting. The Roman Catholic Church was represented by Fr. Hryhorii Draus; Armenian Apostolic Church - Deacon Arthur. Pastor Volodymyr Bilyk from the Church of the Complete Gospel "The Source of Life" also prayed with all. The Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church was represented by Zolochiv Dean Fr. Vasyl Sahan, and from the Center for military chaplains were Father Andrii Khomyshyn and the subdeacon Yurii Baluch (Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church), who came along with the cadets of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Academy of the Land Forces.

The sermon was delivered by Archpriest Mykhailo Syvak, vice-rector of the Lviv Orthodox Theological Academy of the UOC-KP. Father Roman Fihas, DLMPES' coordinator and IES' employeer, thanked all the guests for their good will to participate in the prayer, which should become the first common step to overcome our divisions.

Students from the Patriarch Josyf Slipyj UCU Collegium together with the sisters from the Order of the Most Holy Redeemer held an interesting Christmas-artistic program.

Prayer meeting ended with communication with a sweet treat.
