The first online Master’s thesis defense at the DLMPES

The first online Master’s thesis defense was held in the Institute of Ecumenical Studies at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, Ukraine. Fr. Laurent Cleenewerck , who successfully completed fifteen courses within the program, has received a Master’s degree of Ecumenical Studies.

The title of the thesis is Methods in Ecumenical Dialogue:. Lessons from Critical Thinking, Diplomacy and Physical Sciences.

The online defense lasted the whole hour and was very interesting and successful. Dr. Antoine Arjakovsky was the advisor of the thesis and he highly appreciated the work itself. The reviewer Dr.Kindiy mentioned: “The Master’s thesis is original in its kind and raises important questions of why the present ecumenical dialogue is not moving forward and what methodological “reforms” could improve it.”

Finally, Dr. Arjakovsky, the director of the Institute of Ecumenical Studies invited Fr. Laurent Cleenewerck to teach at the DLMPES.

Laurent (Laurence) Alain Cleenewerck is a professor of International Administration and Theology for EUCLID (Euclid University) and a presbyter of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (2004), received in the Orthodox Church in America in 2007. He is also serving as extension faculty at Humboldt State University (OLLI Extension).
